Apple to buy Loewe?

Loewe Invisio Concept

Loewe is one of the few companies together with Apple and Bang & Olufsen that seems to take design and excellence seriously these days. Together with the talks about that Apple is set to release a TV later this year, this rumor makes total sense.

I went to IFA both 2009,2010 and 2011 and there are a couple of companies that usually stand out, Loewe being one of them.

Maybe I’ve been in igaming for to long. But, without knowing a single number,  the price tag seems low. To me this is a “real” company that makes TV sets, with 1000 employees. Guess it’s not bubble time in the TV industry.

Anywho - kind of hope this is true. At a first glance, this could be awesome.

The death of SIM cards?

The other day I was with my girlfriend shopping. I didn’t care much for the shopping so I sat with my beloved iPhone in some corner and read an Time article about Singularity. This inevitably lead to battery shortage.

Now, I want to have more batteries, no wait!

Wouldn’t it be awesome if SIM cards didn’t exist? What if I could just borrow anyone’s phone and log in with my credentials. It would hook me up to my operator, sync my everything with the cloud, and voila - I’d be just where I left off in the article.

Someone is probably working on this right now. So - release it already.

Thanks.

Want to win, don’t be afraid to lose

Why do innovation stop at most big companies? What is the tipping point that make people more afraid to lose than they want to win?

I’ve been working in both big and small companies. The trend has always been the same - the bigger we got, the less got done. A day comes and someone says “that’s not my job”, and you you know you’re in trouble.

If it was hockey, you want your players to WANT to have the puck, to be confident, to challenge and to love the game. You want your employees to take the puck and deke left, dangle right and then score an incredible goal. Instead, at most big companies, as soon as one gets the puck the most important thing is to get rid of it. Give the responsibility to someone else - I might fail.

Create internal competition. Take a few of your best employees and start a new brand, to challenge the mother brand. Why not? If you don’t, someone else will.
